UK Looking To Remove Cap On Skilled Indian Migrants

Under new proposals that could come into effect as soon as 2021, an unlimited number of highly-skilled Indian workers could migrate to the UK.

‘The UK also wants to ink a pact with India similar to the one New Delhi has with France, treating each other's academic degrees as equivalent for higher studies and jobs’, sources said.

Just this week UK officials visited New Delhi for the Migration Dialogue with the Indian Government – about a month after the British government unveiled its White Papers’ post-Brexit immigration and visa strategy. The proposal covers eliminating the cap on highly-skilled migrants from anywhere in the world and improving the post-study work offering for international students.

UK Immigration Minister Caroline Nokes was quoted saying: ‘Under the new system, operating from 2021, we will always be open to the brightest and best from India, who wish to come to live and work in the UK’.

This means that there would be no limit on the number of skilled people, such as IT professionals, engineers, doctors, who can come to live and work in the UK, the statement said. If you want to find out more about IT careers in the UK or how to get Tier 2 General visa sponsorship, do not hesitate to get in touch with us consult@mavisas.co.uk
