Key points:
The number of unemployed people for every vacancy in the UK is falling. The figure is currently 2.2 people per vacancy.
Skill mismatching is a problem, with 1.5 million people under-qualified to perform their present job role. Conversely, 4.6 million people are over-qualified.
Digital, Construction and Care sectors are suffering the biggest shortages of talent.
Recruiters will have to up their networking skills in order to cope with the pressures. Relationships are king.
Less conventional social media platforms, such as Pinterest and Instagram, offer less competitive markets.
Networking and accessing top talent is a major factor, however some areas are becoming increasingly sparse with a huge demand. Areas of IT such as Data Science & Cyber Security, companies are trying to innovate and make best use of the Data & Information regarding their businesses. This in turn leads to compliance aspects such as GDPR which is where data protection and Cyber Security becomes prevalent.
Tier 2 Talent?
Widening the talent pool and considering talent which requires Visa Sponsorship is one option. Although many companies are adverse from this route it needn't be overly complex and daunting. Even clients with time bound projects are able to utilise such talent on a time & deliverables basis provided the employer is following due diligence.
With such recruitment pressures being felt and the uncertainty of Brexit this option will increasingly be favoured.
